Jeff Stewart, Treasurer

Jeff Stewart has been a dedicated member of The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County Board since 2016. With 30 years of professional parks and recreation services experience, he currently serves as the Executive Director for Johnson County Park & Recreation District in Johnson County, Kansas.  The agency employs 330 full-time and 1,400 part-time staff that manage over 10,000 acres of park property, 25 recreation and culture facilities, and welcomes over 10 million visitors and participants to its parks, facilities, programs, and events each year. JCPRD is nationally acclaimed as an accredited agency and having received the National Gold Medal Award twice.

The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County (TPRFJC) really speaks to me. I am incredibly passionate about the services that JCPRD and other park and recreation agencies provide to the Johnson County community.  I’ve had the great fortune to benefit from and be involved with developing many diverse programs, park and facility developments, and countless initiatives in my 30-year professional career. TPRFJC plays an integral role in the delivery of the essential services that the citizens, visitors, and businesses of the Johnson County community benefits from and has grown to love. As we celebrate and appreciate the incredible success we have experienced, we are even more excited about what’s to come.  It’s going to be a lot of fun being a part of TPRFJC as we welcome involvement and support of many others in the Johnson County community.

Jeff enjoys playing where he works.  He continues to play baseball as a member of the Kansas City Astros that compete in the Kansas City Senior Baseball League. He and his son, Brock, even became Guinness World Record holders in 2023 by playing in the longest marathon baseball game, lasting 100 hours and 1 minute. Jeff can also often be found mountain biking on JCPRD’s many singletrack trails.  He and his family love spending their vacation time hiking the many national parks around the country.

When asked (often) what his favorite JCPRD park or facility is, he always responds in the same way stating, “they are like my children – I love them equally for their unique characteristics, beauty, and the joy they bring to me.”
