Joan Barkley Wells

Joan Barkley Wells has served as a board member of The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County for nearly 40 years including serving as past president. Joan is involved in many philanthropic organizations in Johnson County and greater Kansas City.  A Johnson County native, Joan is a former trustee of the Johnson County Museum and the National World War I Museum. Joan graduated Shawnee Mission North High School and attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music and was awarded an Associate Montessori International diploma from Avila College.

Joan is a past president of both the Symphony Women’s Association and Women’s City Club.  She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 40 years.

Joan is a member is the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity for women.  Joan enjoys genealogy, the outdoors and local gardens and is a nationally accredited flower show judge by the Federated Garden Clubs.
