Lonita Cook joined The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County Board in 2023 after serving as liaison for the Friends of the Johnson County Museum for two years. As President, she successfully led the Friends through their highly successful fundraising campaign for REDLINED: Cities, Suburbs, and Segregation.

I joined the Foundation as a liaison to the board from Johnson County Museum Friends group and when my time with the Museum came to a close, I wanted to stay connected, not only to the Museum, but to the beautiful people of the JCPRD Foundation board. There is so much openness and love for the county and our parks and public spaces that I wanted to keep this service as a part of the process of my life.

Lonita has a lifelong passion for film and the arts. She is co-creator, co-producer, and co-host of Kansas City PBS travel show “Get Lost!” and is a Kansas City film and TV Critic contributing to KCTV5, myKCLive, Hello Iowa, and Everday Northwest. She is also a member of the Critics Choice Association and the Kansas City Film Critics Circle Board. Lonita serves as the East Central Kansas Representative of the Kansas Commerce Creative Arts and on the Advisory Board for the Johnson County Arts Council.
