Paul Snider
Paul Snider joined The Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County Board in January 2021, following nearly nine years on the Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners. During that time, Paul initiated discussion of accessible playgrounds at JCPRD and contributed to opening Meadowbrook Park, Big Bull Creek Park, Lexington Lake Park, and the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center.
When I first joined the JCPRD board, I focused on playgrounds and activities that aligned with having three small kids. As that service continued, I saw the vital part parks play in everyone’s lives. It’s great to be associated with the Foundation to make sure the parks system can evolve and be accessible by all.
Paul owns Snider Public Affairs, focused on state government affairs and local public affairs work in Topeka and northeast Kansas. In this capacity Paul represents large energy consumers, public transportation agencies, broadband providers, agribusiness, and environmental advocates. Prior to this, Paul led government affairs efforts for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), promoting public transportation issues. He also led Kansas City Power & Light’s (KCP&L) government affairs team for many years.
Active in several chambers of commerce, Paul has worked extensively with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, serving in leadership roles for many policy efforts. In November 2017, Paul was elected to the Board of Trustees for Johnson County Community College. He served as an appointed commissioner for the Johnson County Parks & Recreation District as chair in 2016 and 2017.
Paul lives in Lenexa with his wife Alice and three daughters. He enjoys hiking at Ernie Miller Park and Nature Center, golfing at Tomahawk Hills and Heritage Park, and using JCPRD’s expansive trail system.
