Johnson County Park & Recreation District officials recently announced the hiring of Kate Buenger as JCPRD’s new Sponsorship Specialist
Buenger joins JCPRD after serving Special Olympics Kansas as the Director of Development specializing in fundraising efforts, special events, and volunteer coordination. Prior to working for Special Olympics Kansas, she was the Community Development Coordinator for the city of De Soto.
“I am excited about joining an award winning organization in JCPRD and working among the best in the field,” Buenger said. “With this position, I will be afforded the opportunity to blend my love of being active and the outdoors with my desire to create a better world for generations to come.”
In her new role as sponsorship specialist, Buenger is responsible for external revenue generation and strategies for a variety of JCPRD programs, events, and facilities through the sale of sponsorships and naming rights.
“The selection committee was looking for a candidate with a wide variety of skill sets and we found a great person to represent JCPRD in our community in Kate” said JCPRD Director of Development Jay Hinrichs.
Buenger is a native of Osage City and graduated from Ottawa University with a degree in public administration and served as an Ambassador Board Member for the HALO Foundation and Alzheimer’s Association.
Buenger will start on Feb. 5 and will office in JCPRD Administration Building in Shawnee Mission Park.
